Men’s Tennis Falters to Falcons at Home

BREVARD, N.C. - The Brevard College men's tennis team (1-5) fell to the Pfeiffer University Falcons (4-2), 7-1, on a brisk Saturday afternoon at the McCoy Tennis Complex on the campus of Brevard College. 

The match was highlighted by freshman captain Jackson Ray earning a three-set victory in number-two singles over Phillip Conaway. Ray took the first set, 6-4, before falling in the second set by a score of 8-6. In the tie-breaking third set, Ray outscored Conaway, 10-4 to take the match. 

Sophomore Andrew Ingram fought hard in his number-three singles match, falling narrowly to Pfeiffer's Trey Speight. Ingram fell 6-1 in the first frame before battling back to earn a 6-4 second-set victory. SSpeight pulled away in the tiebreaker, 10-7 to clinch the victory for his side. 

Freshman JaMarcus Walker took his number-five opponent to the wire in the first set, falling by a narrow 6-4 score, before falling in the match after a 6-1 second set. 

The Tornados will open up USA South Conference play next Saturday, March 7 when Brevard travels to Berea, Kentucky to play Berea College at 11 a.m.
