BREVARD, N.C. - The Brevard College men's soccer team (5-1, 4-1 USAS) took care of business at home on Sunday, scoring five times in a shutout win, 5-0, over USA South Conference foe LaGrange College (1-3, 1-3 USAS) to ensure the Tornados' position in the USA South Men's Soccer West Division Tournament.

The berth marks the second-consecutive postseason appearance for the Tornados under the direction of Head Coach Helio "L" D'Anna, as Brevard was selected to the 2019 ECAC DIII Men's Soccer Championship. The trip marks Brevard's first at the conference level since the 2016 South Atlantic Conference Men's Soccer Tournament.

BC's trip to the West Division Tournament marks the program's fifth postseason appearance in the NCAA-era.

Brevard's Adam Spencer led the way for the potent Tornado attack, as the senior midfielder scored twice alongside an assist for five points in the match. Sam O'Callaghan and Trystan Wallace each logged a pair of assists, while Estevan Berto got on the score sheet for the first time in his Tornado career.

Reigning USA South Men's Soccer Player of the Week Vinicius Giannaccini scored his team-best sixth goal of the season, while Francesco Bonometti tallied his fifth score of the year. Ryan Sinkamba dished out his first career assist as well.

Jack Pruehs (2-1) got the start in goal for the Tornados, stopping both shot attempts on-goal that he faced. Pedro Campos came on in the 64th minute, saving a pair of shots in substitute action.

Impressively, two of BC's five scores came playing a man down, as a red card left the Tornados with 10 players for the remaining 30 minutes of the contest.

Brevard outshot the Panthers, 15-12, while controlling six corner kicks to LaGrange's five.

Berto got things going in the 10th minute, rebounding a hard cross attempt from O'Callaghan and ripping the ball into the left side of the goal to give the Tornados the early advantage.

In the 23rd minute, Wallace played Spencer through, as the senior midfielder drilled the ball with authority past LaGrange's keeper to double BC's advantage.

Bonometti got on the score sheet in the 40th minute, as an O'Callaghan cross fell to the sophomore from Paderno Franciacorta, Italy, who took a shot that found the nylon to push Brevard's lead to a 3-0 margin that it would take into the locker room.

Giannaccini, who ranks in the top-five of the USA South in goals, used a perfect buildup by Wallace and Spencer to score his sixth goal of the season, pushing Brevard's lead to a four-goal margin.

In the game's final minute, Spencer was played through by Sinkamba in open space, giving the senior his brace of goals to put an exclamation mark on the victory.

Brevard is scheduled to take a break from conference action, hosting Greensboro in non-conference play on Sunday, March 21 at 1 p.m.
