MARYVILLE, Tenn. - The Brevard College men's soccer team (4-1, 3-1 USAS) prevailed in a USA South Conference contest, 3-1, against Maryville College (1-4, 1-3 USAS) on Wednesday evening in Maryville, Tennessee.

The victory marked BC's second consecutive conference victory, as well as the Tornados' second triumph over Maryville in a row.

Reigning USA South Men's Soccer Player of the Week Vinicius Giannaccini put in his fifth goal of the season, as the Jacarei, Brazil native leads the Tornados in goals and ranks fourth in the conference in goals and points scored (11 points). Sophomore defender Trystan Wallace scored his first career goal in what proved to be the game-winner, while freshman forward Ryan Lynch scored the second goal of his rookie campaign.

The Scots got on the board first through a fifth-minute goal by Tristan Skelton, who gathered a loose ball in the box and placed the ball in the bottom left corner.

BC's Giannaccini tied the contest up at 1-1 in the 16th minute, slotting the ball into the side of the net. Three minutes later, Wallace gathered the ball outside the box and dribbled past two Scots defenders and beat the goalkeeper to take the lead for the Tornados. Brevard held its 2-1 advantage heading into the intermission.

Brevard's Lynch added some insurance to BC's lead in the 59th minute, as the forward turned on the jets to beat four Maryville defenders off the dribble and found the back of the net to give the Tornados a 3-1 cushion.

The Tornados kept the attacking pressure on with their two-goal advantage, attempting eight more shot attempts down the stretch. Brevard saw its lead through, wrapping up its third conference victory and fourth win overall of the Spring 2021 campaign.

The Tornados outshot the Scots 23-9 in the game while the host Scots controlled eight corner kicks to Brevard's three attempts.

The Tornados return to conference play this Sunday, March 14th when they face off against the LaGrange College Panthers at 5 p.m. at Ives-Lemel Family Field.
