Late Score Pushes Covenant Past Brevard

Brevard men's soccer dropped a tough match to Covenant in the final seconds 2-1 Saturday night.

Covenant's Carl Simakoff scored on a corner kick with 11 seconds remaining in regulation to give the Scots the victory over the Tornados.

In an evenly contested match, both teams were even in the shooting margin (20 shots) and saves (six) on the match.

After a scoreless first half, the scoring began in the 55th minute as Isaac Johnson scored on a header off an assist from Josh Brower.

Brevard was able to tie the match in the 71st minute, as Ty Stubbs scored off a deflection inside the box.

With time running out, Covenant's Ethan Pettit was able to deliver a corner kick to Simakoff, who scored on the header to give the Scots the lead with almost no time left.

Brevard returns to action next Saturday, as they take on Ferrum at home.
