FLETCHER, N.C. - The Brevard College Tornados Men's Golf team continued its hot start to the spring as senior golfer Austin Fisher won the Cavalier Spring Invite hosted by Montreat College at Broadmoor Golf Links in nearby Fletcher, N.C. 

Fisher, who was co-champion at the Mars Hill Fall Invitational hosted at Broadmoor back in September, won comfortably by 10 strokes after following an opening-round 73 (+1) with a scorching final-round 71 (-1) to finish with an even-par 144 for the tournament. 

Fellow senior Thibault Tranchant, a native of Fontainebleau, France, garnered his highest finish as a Brevard College Tornado after shooting a 77 (+5) and a 78 (+6) for a tournament total of 155 (+11), which placed him third in the field individually. Tranchant finished tied for sixth in the Mars Hill Fall Invitational held at Broadmoor back in September. 

Sophomore Thomas Purcell rounded out Tornado participants with his third top-10 finish of the 2018-19 season, finishing tied for eighth with scores of 77 (+5) and 81 (+9) for a total of 158 (+14). Alongside Tranchant, Purcell finished tied for sixth in the Mars Hill Fall Invitational held at Broadmoor back in September. 

The tournament's competitive field included Brewton-Parker College, the University of the Cumberlands, West Virginia Tech, Union College, Kentucky Christian, and host Montreat.

8th (tied) - Thomas Purcell, 77, 81, (+14)

The BC Men's Golf team returns to action next week from Sunday, March 10 to Tuesday, March 12 as it takes part in the J. Ralph Hargett Invitational at the Stonebridge Golf Club in Monroe, N.C., hosted by Wingate University.
