BREVARD, N.C. – Looking to build on a thrilling 78-73 overtime victory at home against Piedmont, the Brevard College Tornados Men's Basketball team (5-13, 2-8 USAS) hits the road for a weekend USA South trip to Lookout Mountain, Ga. to square off with Covenant College (11-6, 10-0 USAS) on Friday at 7:30 p.m. before heading to Maryville, Tenn. to face Maryville College (11-6, 7-3 USAS) on Saturday at 6 p.m.

The Covenant Scots are currently unbeaten in USA South league play, boasting a 10-0 record to sit atop the USA South West Division.

The Maryville Scots, who are the defending USA South tournament champions, currently boast a 7-3 mark in league play. Maryville and legendary Head Coach Randy Lambert announced that this season will be Lambert's final after 39 seasons at the helm of Maryville College Men's Basketball. Lambert currently holds 712 career victories, which ranks 51st all-time amongst Men's College Basketball Coaches (NCAA DI, DII, DIII, NAIA).

Brevard will look to build upon its momentum from a 78-73 overtime win that saw junior forward Levi Lamb tally 24 points. It was Lamb's late fourth-quarter 3-pointer and layup that sent the contest to overtime, where the Tornados were able to pull away late. The performance was Lamb's sixth 20-plus point performance of 2018-19, as the Atlanta, Ga. native ranks seventh in the USA South with 16.8 points-per-game.

Reserves Cannon Lamb and Noah Lea played big roles in the Tornados comeback efforts on Tuesday evening. Cannon Lamb tallied 13 points on 5-of-10 shooting while grabbing five rebounds and dishing three assists. Lea also racked up 13 points to go along with two big steals. The Durham, N.C. native tallied a perfect 4-of-4 from the charity stripe late in the contest to propel Brevard towards victory.

The Tornados will look to use one of the stoutest defenses in the USA South Conference to compete this weekend. Brevard's 9.3 steals-per-game ranks second in the league.

After BC's road trip, the Tornados will host Berea College (8-9, 3-7 USAS) on Wednesday, January 30 at 7 p.m. Brevard and Berea met back on January 16 in Berea, Ky., with the Mountaineers taking a 67-53 decision.
