BREVARD, N.C. –
The Brevard men's basketball team closes out the home portion of its schedule on Friday against Averett when the two teams clash at 7:30 p.m. in Boshamer Gym.

It will also mark the final home game for Brevard senior point guard Stevie Williams who has scored 1,062 points, handed out 237 assists and forced 143 steals over the course of his four-year career.

Williams is one of three players averaging double figures for the Tornados this season, ranking second on the team with 12.5 points per game. While he trails JaMarquis Johnson (14.2 ppg), due in large part to Johnson's team-high 49 3-point field goals, he holds a slight edge on teammate Levi Lamb, who is averaging 11.7 ppg.

Brevard (4-16) is looking to halt a six-game skid that dates back to a 56-47 setback at Huntingdon on Jan. 26. The Tornados head into the game averaging 72.4 points per contest and are hitting 43.6 percent (505-1157) from the field. Behind the sharpshooting skills of Johnson and Levi Lamb, Brevard is hitting 39 percent (189-484) from beyond the arc.

Averett (10-11) has won two of its last three games as it prepares for a weekend series that includes meetings with the Tornados and Piedmont. The Cougars had a recent 82-79 setback versus Greensboro on Wednesday evening.

James Contreras Jr. is the lone Cougar averaging double figure points (23.4), hitting 159-of-337 (47.2%) from the field on the season. Averett has five players averaging at least six points per contest, including Darin Ketner (7.9), who has the team lead in total rebounds (114) and defensive boards (71).

In addition to Senior Night, the game will serve as the Coaches vs. Cancer game for the Tornados with all Brevard students receiving a free t-shirt at the gate. In addition, fans can make pledges for each 3-pointer made to the American Cancer Society.

Every 3-point shot made during the program will help the American Cancer Society save lives, celebrate lives, and lead the fight for a world without cancer. Fans can click on http://www.pledgeit.org/cvc18-brevard-men to support the men's team and follow how the Tornados are doing on a national scale by clicking www.3pointchallenge.org. Your pledge will help Brevard Basketball become the 3-Point Challenge Champion over other rival schools in the USA South Conference and schools across the nation.
