LMU's high-powered offense proves too much for Brevard

HARROGATE, TENN. - The Brevard College Men's basketball team (1-8, 0-3 SAC) lost to the No. 23 LMU Railsplitters (7-2, 3-1 SAC) 100-50 in Monday night's conference matchup.

The Tornados were led by Stevie Williams (High Point, N.C.) who had 15 points. Junior Shelby Parris (Burlington, N.J.) had 10 points going a perfect 6-6 from the foul line. Senior Omar El Diraoui (Beirut, Lebanon) had eleven points, grabbing five rebounds. The forward also recorded four blocks during the contest.

Lincoln Memorial was led by Chris Perry, who scored 27 points for the Railsplitters going 12-16 from the field and grabbed nine rebounds. Luquon Choice added 13 points to LMU's total going 5-9 from the field and 3-6 from behind the arc. Paul Woodson grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds for the Railsplitters and recorded one blocked shot.

The first five minutes of play were close as the score would rotate back and forth before the first media timeout. Omar El Diraoui put the Tornados on the board first scoring on the opening play of the game.

LMU scored five quick points by Chris Perry, who had a dunk and then converted a three-point play off of a made jumper and then a foul shot.

Stevie Williams and El Diraoui scored back-to-back jumpers to give the Tornados a 6-5 edge, before Perry had his second dunk of the game going into the first media timeout.

The Railsplitters increased their lead to 10 following the break as Trevon Shaw hit a three and DeShawn Patterson made both free-throws following a foul by Omar El Diraoui.

After the 12-minute media timeout, Shelby Parris hit a jumper to put Brevard within nine. However, LMU would go on an 11-0 run, hitting three, three-point shots in two minutes to put the Railsplitters up 10-30 with eight-and-half minutes remaining in the first half.

Following a Brevard timeout, Stevie Williams scored a jumper and Shelby Parris sank two foul shots to cut LMU's lead to 16.

Lincoln Memorial went on another run in the final six minutes of the half scoring 13 straight unanswered points. Perry scored a layup to end the first half giving the Railsplitters a 48-17 advantage.

In the opening minute of the second half, Stevie Williams scored from behind the arc to cut the lead to 31 points.

The Railsplitters controlled the second half of play, as the Railsplitters would score 52 points converting on 19-34 from field goal range.

The Tornados will return to Boshamer Gymnasium on Wednesday Dec. 7, as the Tornados host the unbeaten Royals of Queens University. Tip-off will be approximately 25 minutes following the women's game.
