Bennett, Parker Named CoSIDA Academic All-District

BREVARD, N.C. – Brevard College football student-athletes Aaron Bennett and Justin Parker have been named to the 2020-21 CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.

First-team Academic All-District honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America ballot.  The Academic All-District and All-American teams are selected by the membership of CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America).

Bennett and Parker earned honors as part of the All-District 5 Team for NCAA Division III student-athletes from the geographical district comprised of Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Missouri, Mississippi, North Carolina, Puerto Rico, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia.

Bennett, a junior running back from Gastonia, North Carolina, is majoring in Business & Organizational Leadership at Brevard College where he has earned a cumulative grade point average of 3.82.  On the field, he appeared in all five games for the Tornados in the Spring 2021 season that culminated with a USA South Conference West Division co-championship.

Bennett ran for 157 yards on 34 attempts for an average of 4.6 yards-per-carries in 2021, highlighted by a nine-carry, 50-yard performance in a win at Maryville.  He also scored a touchdown on a 26-yard reception in a 27-3 win over Huntingdon in the first modern-era game played on the Brevard College campus.  Bennett has amassed 593 yards (6.6 yards-per-carry) with six total touchdowns (four rushing, two receiving) in his collegiate career.

Parker, a junior offensive lineman from Candler, North Carolina, is majoring in Exercise Science at Brevard College with a cumulative GPA of 3.73.

On the field, he played in three of BC's five games in the Spring of 2021 to help anchor the Tornado offensive front.  Parker and the BC offensive line paved the way to 701 team rushing yards in 2021 for an average of 140.2 yards-per-game to go along with seven rushing touchdowns.

As a sophomore, Parker was a USA South Second-Team All-Conference performer playing in all ten games for the Tornados.  He helped lead BC to its most successful season and the first postseason bowl win in school history.  In his collegiate career, Parker has played in a total of 19 contests in the trenches.

Bennett and Parker advance to consideration for CoSIDA Academic All-America selection.  Voting is scheduled to begin June 22 with the announcement of the Division III Academic All-America team slated for July 14.
