Jackson, Naylor Selected to D3football.com Team of the Week Following Averett Win

D3FOOTBALL.COM TEAM OF THE WEEK RELEASE

BREVARD, N.C. - Senior defensive back Quentin Jackson and sophomore linebacker Toby Naylor were each selected as D3Football.com Team of the Week honorees following their individual performances that helped the Brevard College football team earn their first victory of Spring 2021, a 19-10 come-from-behind victory at Averett University last Saturday.

Jackson, a product of Columbia, Maryland, helped cap off Brevard's comeback attempt with a 31-yard pick-six touchdown, as the senior jumped a route and took the Averett pass to the house, giving the Tornados a two-possession lead that they would not relinquish. The former USA South All-Conference selection recorded six tackles alongside a pass breakup in the Tornados winning effort. Jackson now has seven career interceptions to move him into second all-time on the Brevard College career interceptions list, as well as a pair of career pick-six touchdowns.

Naylor, a sophomore linebacker from Southampton, England, earns his first national weekly award nomination following an impressive performance to help lead the Tornado front-seven against the Cougars. Naylor made a habit of getting into the backfield, wrangling in a career-best nine tackles (four solo, five assist), with a career-high 1.5 sacks on the quarterback.

Jackson's selection marks the second D3football Team of the Week honor in his Tornado career, as the senior earned national honors last season in 2019. Naylor's honor marks his first at the conference or national level as a member of BC football.

The pairing of Jackson and Naylor give the Tornados eight national weekly honorees in the last four seasons.
