Tate’s Key Fumble Recovery Leads to National Honor

BREVARD, N.C. - Brevard College football freshman defensive back Rook Tate was selected to D3football.com's Team of the Week, presented by Scoutware, following a two-tackle performance on Saturday that included a fumble recovery on a Maryville punt attempt that helped the Brevard College Tornados defeat the defending USA South Conference champs, 22-10 last Saturday.

A native of Gaffney, S.C., Tate becomes the third BC football player to earn national plaudits thus far in the 2019 season, and the third-straight selection for the Tornados in consecutive weeks. Following Brevard's season-opening victory at home over Christopher Newport, senior defensive back Quentin Jackson became the first Tornado since 2017 to be honored by D3football.com. After last week's 40-9 victory on the road against Allen, freshman punter Jaxon Youngblood was named to D3football.com's Team of the Week, making it back-to-back selections for the Tornados.

Tate and the rest of the undefeated Tornados will continue conference action this Saturday, October 12 when Brevard travels to Fayetteville, N.C. for a battle against in-state opponent Methodist University. Kickoff is slated for 2 p.m.
