Football’s Sullivan, Youngblood Awarded USA South Weekly Honors

OFFICIAL USA SOUTH RELEASE

BREVARD, N.C. – Brevard College Tornados football student-athletes Tae Sullivan (Fr., Defensive Back) and Jaxon Youngblood (Fr., Punter) claimed USA South Conference weekly accolades following BC's impressive 40-9 win over Allen University last Saturday in Columbia, S.C.

Sullivan, a freshman from Gaffney, S.C., made a big impact in Saturday's historically significant defensive performance for the Tornados. He totaled six tackles and grabbed his first career interception – one of a record-breaking five picks for the Tornados' defense – in Saturday's contest. Sullivan's interception stopped a third-quarter Allen drive inside the Brevard 20-yard line.

Youngblood, a freshman from Greer, S.C., launched a new career-best 56-yard punt to round out an impressive showing vs. Allen. He kicked five punts for 228 yards – good enough for a 45.6 yard-per-punt average – while pinning the Yellow Jackets inside the 20-yard line three times in the victory.

The duo become the first two players honored by the USA South for the BC football team this season.

Sullivan and Youngblood's selections are two of four total honors bestowed on Tornado student-athletes this week by the USA South. In total, six athletes have received conference weekly honors thus far in the 2019-20 season.

Brevard College football returns home this Saturday, October 5 for Homecoming vs. Maryville College. This conference-opening contest is slated to kick off at 3 p.m.
