Nado Newcomer Spotlight: Cheerleading Welcomes 5 to 2020-21 Squad

BREVARD, N.C. – Throughout the Fall of 2020, the Brevard College Department of Athletics will be highlighting the new faces in the BC Tornado family, welcoming the freshman and newcomer student-athletes who will be joining Tornado teams during the 2020-21 athletic seasons.

Next up in this series is the BC Cheerleading team, under the direction of Head Coach Molly Penland and Assistant Coach Emily Robinson. The Tornados will welcome a total of five student-athletes to its team this upcoming season.

"I'm very excited about the talent and passion to learn that we have this year," said Molly Penland, Brevard College Head Cheerleading Coach. "Academically and athletically I'm excited about what we will accomplish this year!"

 

Aaron Butts- Sophomore- Toccoa, Ga.- Stephens County High School

As a four year varsity letter winner in football at Stephens County High School, Butts combined for a record of 29-15. He was part of a regional runner-up and third place team. Butts was also named the Offensive Lineman of the week in 2017-18. Academically, Butts will be an Elementary Education major at Brevard College.

Anna Ervin- Freshman- Sparta, Tenn.- White County High School

Ervin was selected as a UCA All-American Cheerleader in both 2017 and 2018. She graduated with Honors and Distinction from White County High School. Ervin was also involved with the Beta Club, Theater Productions, Literary Society, and the SUMMA Debate Society in high school. She will be a Theater Performance major at Brevard College.

Kara Mestas- Freshman- Brevard, N.C.- Brevard High School

The Brevard, North Carolina native and Brevard High School graduate will be a Pre-Medicine major at Brevard College.

Lacey Nesmith- Freshman- Trio, S.C.- Andrews High School

The Trio, South Carolina native and Andrews High School graduate will be a Pre-Medicine major at Brevard College.

Skylee Pries- Freshman- Vale, N.C.- Fred T. Foard High School

The Vale, North Carolina native and Fred T. Foard High School graduate will be a two-sport athlete competing in Cheerleading and Softball. She will be an Environmental Studies major at Brevard College.
