Hacker Becomes Brevard Baseball’s First NCAA DIII National Honoree

BREVARD, N.C. – Senior right-handed pitcher Huntley Hacker was named to the D3baseball.com Team of the Week on Tuesday following his stellar work in relief over the weekend as the Brevard College baseball team took two-out-of-three games from Maryville College in their first conference series of 2021.

The award marks the first at the national level for Brevard College baseball since joining NCAA DIII.

Hacker, a native of Lexington, Kentucky, hurled 3.1 innings of scoreless action in two appearances in BC's series vs. Maryville. The senior logged his first win of the season on Friday, logging 2.1 innings without surrendering a run or a hit while striking out one batter in Brevard's 4-2 victory. On Saturday, Hacker came in the bottom of the ninth inning and clinched the series for the Tornados in a scoreless inning of work with a strikeout to earn his first career save.

Over the course of his career, Hacker has made 21 appearances as a Tornado with two wins and a save in 37 innings. Hacker has a career 4.62 ERA, as he has held an impressive 0.90 ERA through six appearances this season.
