BREVARD, N.C. - The Brevard College baseball team (4-2) looks to extend its four-game win streak as the Tornados return to Gil Coan Field for a non-conference doubleheader against fellow USA South member William Peace University (8-3) on Friday afternoon.

The two sides are scheduled to play a pair of seven-inning contests, with first pitch in game one scheduled for 1 p.m. and the second contest beginning shortly after the conclusion of the first contest.

Live video of both games will be broadcast free-of-charge on youtube.com/ BrevardCollegeTornados, with live stats available for both games on bctornados.com.

The Presidents of the USA South Athletic Conference have agreed to adjust the Conference's policy on spectators attending any outdoor sporting event hosted by a USA South institution regardless of opponent.

The amended policy limits spectators to two per participating student-athlete, plus students, faculty and staff of the host institution while abiding with all local and state social distancing and capacity directives. No spectators of visiting teams will be permitted to attend. This adjusted policy went into effect for all events beginning on Friday, February 26th.

The Tornados are fresh off their first four-game win streak since 2018 and are currently in the midst of the program's best start to a season since the 2016 campaign, when BC also started off with a 4-2 record. Brevard most recently defeated the Pfeiffer University Falcons on the road on Wednesday, as the Tornados used a five-run outburst in the eighth inning to propel themselves to their first win in a row.

Zach Allison and JJ Wilkes each had multi-hit performances in the triumph, as seven different Tornados came around to score in the contest. Allison drove in a game-best three RBI's to go along with a run scored, while JJ Wilkes drove in a pair of RBI's on two extra-base hits. Jason Jucker tallied a pair of RBI's, while Jack Atkinsonscored a game-high three runs while drawing a trio of walks.

Senior right-handed pitcher Ben Melton (1-0) got the ball for the Tornados to start on Wednesday, lasting five innings allowing just one earned run and striking out four batters. Bryce Bowers and Huntley Hacker each logged two innings of relief, shutting down the Falcons with four strikeouts combined.

BC’s pitching staff has enjoyed an impressive stretch over the course of its win streak, as the Tornado staff has maintained a 1.57 ERA over the last four contests while striking out 34 batters. Melton and Trenton Anderson have accumulated double-digit strikeout totals through the season’s early stages, with the senior leading all Tornados with 12 punch outs and the rookie Anderson notching 11 K’s.

Brevard’s Allison has paced the Tornado offense, going 8-for-22 for a team-best .364 average with four RBI’s and three runs. Senior first baseman Wilkes has a .318 batting average with a pair of doubles.

William Peace, the preseason favorite in the USA South East Division, has been led offensively by Gavin Taylor (.417), Tyshawn Barrett (.341), and Alec Seaton (.323). Barrett and Seaton have each drove in seven runs apiece, while Seaton and Taylor have each gone yard through the Pacers’ first 11 contests.

The Pacer starting pitching staff has been led by Patrick Rogan (1-0, 0.96 ERA) and Phillip Berger (2-1, 1.84 ERA).

Brevard will look to join elite company, becoming the first team in the NCAA-era to win five-or-more games consecutively since the 2012 season, when the Tornados rattled off 12-consecutive victories.

Following Friday’s twin bill of action, the Tornados are scheduled to travel to Staunton, Virginia for a three-game series against Mary Baldwin University on Saturday and Sunday, March 20-21.
