Anderson Earns Conference Honor Following First Collegiate Victory, Complete-Game Shutout

OFFICIAL USA SOUTH RELEASE LINK

BREVARD, N.C. – Just two days removed from his first victory as a member of the Brevard College baseball program – a complete-game, two-hit shutout on the road at Averett University – freshman right-handed pitcher Trenten Anderson garnered the USA South Conference Baseball Rookie Pitcher of the Week award.

Anderson, a freshman from Orange City, Florida, hurled seven innings of shutout ball in the second game of a three-game sweep for the Tornados – the first for Brevard since the 2018 campaign when the Tornados swept Berea on the road. The righty struck out nine Averett batters while scattering a pair of hits in just his second career start.

The selection marks the first for the Tornados in the 2021 campaign after BC baseball secured three weekly honors one season ago.

Brevard's three-game sweep of Averett gives the Tornados their best start since the 2019 season, when BC also kicked off the season with a 3-2 mark.

Anderson and the rest of the BC baseball squad are scheduled to return home next weekend for a three-game non-conference series against Greensboro College (3-2) at Gil Coan Field. Brevard and Greensboro begin the set on Friday, March 5 at 3 p.m. before a Sunday, March 7 doubleheader at 1 and 3:30 p.m.
