The Presidents of the USA South Athletic Conference have agreed to adjust the Conference's policy on spectators attending any outdoor sporting event hosted by a USA South institution regardless of opponent. The amended policy limits spectators to two per participating student-athlete, plus students, faculty and staff of the host institution while abiding with all local and state social distancing and capacity directives. No spectators of visiting teams will be permitted to attend. This adjusted policy will go into effect for all events beginning on Friday, February 26th.

The Tornados are coming off their season-opening doubleheader last Sunday at Gil Coan Field - a non-conference set against Maryville College. BC rallied late in the first contest before falling 9-5, while the Scots pulled away in the second matchup, 8-1, to sweep the doubleheader.

Six difference Tornados collected hits in the front end of the doubleheader, with freshman outfielder Logan Clark notching his first collegiate hit and scoring his first collegiate run. Junior catcher Brett Burchett drove in a pair of runs while drawing a pair of walks from Maryville pitching.

Freshman right-handed pitcher Trenten Anderson (0-1) took the mound for the first time in his Brevard College career in game two of the twin billing, as the Orange City, Florida native hurled five innings, logging a pair of strikeouts while letting up three earned runs.

Through BC’s first two contests, Zach Allison, Jason Jucker, and JJ Wilkes have each tallied three hits, while Burchett has totaled a pair of RBI’s offensively.

The Cougars of Averett recently opened their 2021 campaign, falling in an 11-9 decision to the University of Lynchburg. Brandon Hatcher went 4-for-5 at the plate for the Cougars in the highly-contested non-conference matchup.

Following action this weekend, the Tornados are scheduled to continue their non-conference slate, hosting Greensboro College at Gil Coan Field on Friday, March 5 at 3 p.m. before a doubleheader on Sunday, March 7 at 1 and 3:30 p.m.
