Black History Month: Celebrating Brevard College's First Black Male and Female Hall of Fame Inductees, Reggie McAfee '71 and Sheila Simmons
BREVARD, N.C. - The Brevard College Department of Athletics recognizes and honors the groundbreaking achievements of the first two black Brevard College Athletics Hall of Fame inductees, Reggie McAfee '71 (Track & Field student-athlete) and Sheila Simmons (Women's Basketball Head Coach).

McAfee was a standout member of the BC Track & Field team and later ran at UNC Chapel Hill, where he was a four-time ACC champion and a finalist in the 1972 US Olympic Trials.

Simmons is the all-time winningest BC women's basketball coach (NAIA/NCAA-era), leading the Tornados to 67 victories over her three-year tenure. The Goodwater, Alabama native also led Brevard to its only NAIA National Tournament appearance.

Brevard College thanks McAfee and Simmons for paving the way for future black hall of famers and inspiring student-athletes at BC.
