#NCAAInclusion Day 2: “Broadening Our Horizons” - Featuring Head Women’s Lacrosse Coach Kristin Rosato

BREVARD, N.C. - Throughout the NCAA’s Annual Diversity & Inclusion Week, several Brevard College student-athletes, coaches, and athletic staff will be featured on bctornados.com

The second day of the four-day week (October 22-25) is titled “Broadening Our Horizons” - a day that is focused on identifying diverse connections across campus and highlighting diverse friendships, mentors, and role models.

#NCAAInclusion Week, sponsored by the NCAA’s Office of Inclusion, helps bring awareness and spotlight to diversity and inclusion on college campuses by giving student-athletes, coaches, faculty, and staff an outlet to share their stories through social media.

Below highlights Brevard College women’s lacrosse Head Coach Kristin Rosato, Brevard’s third feature of #NCAAInclusion Week.

bctornados.com: “What role model has had an impact in your life and why?”

Kristin Rosato: “Trish Hughes - A strong and tough woman who genuinely works intensely hard for others. I wouldn’t be here without her.”

bctornados.com: “What connections have you made on the Brevard College campus as it relates to personal growth?”

Kristin Rosato: “Some of the connections that I have made as it relates to personal growth include being a Success Mentor, engaging with different members of the Brevard community, and developing relationships with the BC faculty.”

bctornados.com: “What BC coach/faculty/staff/ administrator has had a profound impact on you concerning diversity and inclusion on campus?”

Kristin Rosato: “Director of Athletics Myranda Nash. She treats everyone that works here as equals. She goes out of her way to communicate with all of the members on staff - a staff that is quite diverse itself.”

bctornados.com: In your own words, explain why diversity and inclusion are important in college athletics, and at Brevard specifically.

Kristin Rosato: “You have to respect people’s differences. Athletics brings people together from all over to work towards a common goal. There isn’t much of that in today’s world. Teammates learn respect and acceptance through each other’s differences.”
