Brevard College has announced the selection of Tristan Cowie (Cycling) and the 1982 National Championship Men’s Cross Country team as the 2022 inductees into the Brevard College Athletics Hall of Fame. Cowie and the 1982 Men’s Cross Country team will become the 44th and 45th inductees into the college’s Athletics Hall of Fame.
A school-record 129 Brevard College student-athletes have been named 2020-21 USA South Academic All-Conference selections. Thirty one of the 128 BC student-athletes also earned “With Distinction” honors for superior academic achievement.
Brevard College has announced the selection of Jeff Wentworth (Cross Country/Track & Field) and the 2009 National Championship Cycling Team as the 2021 inductees into the Brevard College Athletics Hall of Fame. Wentworth and the ’09 Cycling team become the 42nd and 43rd inductees into the college’s Athletics Hall of Fame.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Brevard College has established spectator guidelines for Spring 2021 home, outdoor athletic events. The updated guidelines are in accordance with the adjusted outdoor spectator policy announced by the USA South Conference on February 23. 2021. These regulations apply to the sports of baseball, football, men’s lacrosse, women’s lacrosse, men’s soccer, women’s soccer, softball, men’s tennis and women’s tennis at Brevard College.
The Brevard College cross country team earned a third place team finish in the USA South Cross Country West Division Championships on Friday afternoon at the Greenbrier Cross Country Course in Grady, Alabama.
A pair of Tornado freshmen, Devon Brodmyer and Garrett Spangler, finished in the top 10, while four BC runners placed top-20 and seven finished in the top-25 to help place Brevard in third place on the men’s side. Freshman Zoe Capps earned a top-20 finish of her own on the women’s side, finishing the six-kilometer stretch in 29:37.
The Brevard College cross country team is set to travel to Grady, Alabama for the USA South Conference Cross Country Championships, held at the Greenbrier Cross Country Course and hosted by Huntingdon College.
The Tornado cross country team, led by Head Coach Darryll Patrick, Assistant Coach Jordan Tager, and Volunteer Assistant Coach Chad Newton, will field a squad of 10 runners on the men’s side, with Zoe Capps - a freshman from Hendersonville, North Carolina - representing the women’s team.
The Presidents of the USA South Athletic Conference have agreed to adjust the Conference's policy on spectators attending any outdoor sporting event hosted by a USA South institution regardless of opponent.
The USA South Conference cross country head coaches have released their pre-conference meet poll, selecting the Brevard College men’s cross country team to finish in fifth place in the West Division. Covenant College was picked as the pre-conference meet favorite in the west with four first-place votes, followed by Piedmont College with a pair of first-place selections. Berea College received the last first-place vote, while Huntingdon College edged out the Tornados with 19 points to BC's 17. Maryville College and LaGrange College rounded out the West Division poll.
Each divisional poll only includes votes from coaches within that particular division-only. Head coaches do not vote for their own teams in the balloting.

The USA South Conference has announced plans to move forward with competition for Men’s and Women’s Basketball – alongside previously postponed fall sports of Football, Men’s and Women’s Soccer, Volleyball, and Cross Country - in the upcoming Spring semester. All dates, times, and opponents for each sport at Brevard College are still yet to be announced. Throughout the Fall of 2020, the Brevard College Department of Athletics will be highlighting the new faces in the BC Tornado family, welcoming the freshman and newcomer student-athletes who will be joining Tornado teams during the 2020-21 athletic seasons.
The 2020 Brevard College Athletics Hall of Fame class of Robert "Bob" Gray (Cross Country/Track & Field), Andy Latimer (Track & Field) and Thad Walker (Cycling) will be celebrated via a series of virtual induction ceremonies on Friday, October 9. Gray, Latimer and Walker will become the 39th, 40th and 41st inductees into the college's Athletics Hall of Fame.
Student-athletes from across all sports at Brevard College recently starred in a public service announcement to raise awareness on the importance of maintaining a safe campus to help the Tornados reach the goal of participating in intercollegiate athletics this academic year.
With the health and safety of student athletes, coaches, athletic trainers, and athletics staffs as their priority, the Presidents of the USA South Athletic Conference have voted unanimously to postpone all fall sport conference competition until the spring 2021 semester.
