BREVARD, N.C. – The Brevard College women's soccer program has announced its schedule for the 2023 season of competition. The slate for the Tornados features 18 total regular season contests including eight home games and nine matchups within USA South Conference play.
"We are very excited for our upcoming 2023 schedule," said Head Coach Juan Mascaro. "The first stretch of the season is against very solid competition and will prepare us for conference play. We look forward to competing for a conference championship this coming season with a strong group of returners and an exciting incoming class. There is a lot of anticipation around our program heading into the Fall and we can't wait to get started."
The Tornados kick off 2023 on the road on Friday, September 1 as Brevard takes on Berry College in Rome, Georgia at 4 p.m. BC begins its home schedule on Sunday, September 3 at Ives-Lemel Family Field, matching up with Carlow University for the second consecutive season as the two sides begin play at 7 p.m.
A midweek road trip to Greensboro, North Carolina is next up for the Tornados on Wednesday, September 6 as Brevard battles Guilford College at 7 p.m. before returning home on Saturday, September 9 at 7 p.m. vs. Toccoa Falls College. BC then begins a busy three-match week of action starting in Decatur, Georgia vs. Agnes Scott College (Monday, Sept. 11, 3 p.m.) and continuing in Swannanoa, North Carolina vs. Warren Wilson College (Wednesday, Sept. 13, 5:30 p.m.). The Tornados return home on Saturday, September 16 to face Carolina University at 12 p.m.
BC's final game before conference play begins is on Tuesday, September 19 in Greenville, South Carolina as Brevard faces Bob Jones University at 7 p.m. USA South action kicks off on Saturday, September 23 as BC takes on NC Wesleyan University at 11 a.m. at Ives-Lemel Family Field. The Tornados travel back to Greensboro, this time to take on Greensboro College on Wednesday, September 27 at 6:30 p.m. before closing the month of September up at home on Saturday, September 30 against Meredith College at 2 p.m.
October begins with a Tuesday, October 3 road contest in Winston-Salem, North Carolina at Salem College beginning at 4 p.m. before a Saturday, October 7 game in Buena Vista, Virginia vs. Southern Virginia University at 1 p.m. in a rematch of the 2022 USA South Tournament First Round meeting between the two sides.
Brevard hosts Pfeiffer University on Wednesday, October 11 at 5 p.m. in a midweek conference matchup before traveling to Fayetteville, North Carolina on Saturday, October 14 at 11 a.m. to play Methodist University. BC's final USA South home contest is Saturday, October 21 at 1 p.m. as Brevard takes on Mary Baldwin University prior to the home slate concluding on Tuesday, October 24 against Johnson & Wales NC at 7 p.m. The regular season wraps up on Saturday, October 28 in Cary, North Carolina against William Peace University at 3 p.m.
The 2023 USA South Conference Women's Soccer Tournament will begin with first-round action on Tuesday, October 31, and continue with the semifinals on Thursday, November 2. The 2023 USA South Conference Tournament Championship is scheduled for Saturday, November 4.
2022 marked the fourth time in the last five years that the Tornados have qualified for postseason play, as Brevard made a trip to the 2018 ECAC Women's Soccer Tournament, the Spring 2021 USA South West Division Tournament, and the 2021 USA South Women's Soccer Tournament prior to the 2022 USA South appearance.
