Harrienger, Kearnan Receive IWLCA Honors
BREVARD, N.C. – Two members of the Brevard College women's lacrosse program, Kathryn Harrienger and Kelly Kearnan, were named to the 2017 Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Association Zag Sports Division II Academic Honor Roll. 

In addition to the individual honors, the Tornados' women's lacrosse program was one of 300 schools across the NCAA Division I, II, III, and NAIA landscape honored as an IWLCA Academic Honor Squads for the 2016-17 academic year. Brevard finished with a 3.160 team GPA during the academic year, surpassing the 3.0 or higher GPA requirements needed to qualify for the team honor.

Harrienger played in the 12 games for the Tornados last season netting a career-high nine goals while handing out two assists. She netted two goals on three occasions, including a 17-3 victory in the home season finale against Montreat. Harrienger is a senior environmental studies major with a 3.538 overall GPA. 

Kearnan wrapped up her junior season by recording 15 goals, one assist and 16 points in 12 contests. After missing the first three games of the season, Kearnan was responsible for three goals in back-to-back contests against Huntingdon and Walsh en route to recording four multi-goal contests over the course of the campaign. Kearnan is a junior business and organizational leadership major with a 3.832 overall GPA. 

In total the IWLCA honored 244 student-athletes from 69 different institutions on the 2017 IWLCA Zag Sports Division II Academic Honor Roll. In order to be eligible for this award, student-athletes must be a junior, senior, or graduate student and have earned a cumulative academic GPA of 3.50 or greater.
