Softball falls to Georgia College in YHC tournament

YOUNG HARRIS, GA - The Brevard College Softball team (1-4) dropped a matchup against Georgia College (6-8) 9-1 in six innings in the Young Harris Tournament.

Senior Lauren Parker (Charlotte, N.C.) finished 2-3 on the day with an RBI. Sophomore pitcher Ricki Kuhn (Newton, N.C.) suffered the loss. Kuhn threw 5.2 innings giving up nine runs on 11 hits.

Georgia College's pitcher Kayla Price earned the win, allowing one run and surrendering four hits.

The Bobcats got on the board first as Amber Coy singled to third base, scoring Danielle Bernstein on a throwing error. Kuhn would keep the Bobcats off the board the next two innings.

Georgia College would strike again in the fourth inning scoring four runs on four hits. Brevard would answer in the top of the fifth as Ashleigh Ivey (Concord, N.C.) reached on a walk. Erin Humphries would single to the left side of the field. The Tornados would then return to the top of the line up, as Parker would single down the leftfield line to drive in Ivey.

The Bobcats added three runs in the bottom of the sixth to secure the run rule victory. Cassidy Rice and Baylee Hall each drove in two runs for Georgia College to help the Bobcats to the nonconference win.

The Tornados will return back to the field tomorrow as they take on the host team, Young Harris at 4:30 p.m.
