Tornados Sweep Mary Baldwin for Road Conference W

STAUNTON, Va. - The Brevard College men's tennis team (4-10, 2-2 USA South) earned a 5-0 road conference victory over Mary Baldwin (0-17, 0-5 USAS) on Friday afternoon in Staunton, Virginia.  The rain-shortened event was clinched after BC won its fifth match.

The Tornados started the day off with a sweep of doubles play.  Sophomores Bryce Bernitt and Noah Lewis teamed up on number-one doubles and cruised to a 6-1 win. In number two doubles, seniors James Srsich and Ethan McGee won handily as well with a 6-1 result.  In the number three slot, senior JaMarcus Walker and sophomore Brian Seon also won by the score of 6-1 to give BC a 3-0 lead at the conclusion of doubles play.

Needing just two more wins to clinch a team victory, the number one and number two singles players for the Tornados delivered.  McGee defeated his opponent 6-4 in the abbreviated match to take no. 1 singles.  Bernitt then won 6-4 in no. 2 singles to secure Brevard's victory.

The Tornados will be back in action on Wednesday for Senior Day at the McCoy Tennis Complex.  Following the Senior Day ceremony, Brevard will face off against Greensboro College at 3 p.m.
