Men's Tennis falls 9-0 to Lenoir-Rhyne

BREVARD, N.C. - The Brevard College Men's Tennis team (4-12, 0-6 SAC) dropped a 9-0 decision to the Lenoir-Rhyne Bears (8-7, 2-4 SAC), Sunday afternoon in South Atlantic Conference tennis action.

 

Brevard would put up a battle in both doubles and singles action, despite the final score, as Tom Mittring (Bavaria, Germany) and JR Davis (Hixon, Tenn.) fought to an 8-5 loss at No. 1 doubles, while Cre Still (Hendersonville, N.C.) and Will Christiansen (Crawford, Mass.) battle 8-4 at No. 2. However, L-R would take a 3-0 lead into singles action as Christoph Plasa (Wegberg, Germany) and Tim Hengst (Menden, Germany) fell 8-0 at No. 3 doubles.

 

In singles action, Hengst lost 6-1, 6-0 at No. 4, while Christiansen fell 6-1, 6-1 at No. 5, giving the Bears a 5-0 game point heading into the final four singles matches of the afternoon. At No. 6 singles, Plasa would battle in the opening game, falling 6-3, 6-0, while Davis lost 6-2, 6-1 at No. 3 singles, paving the way for the Tornados two best matches of the afternoon at No. 1 and No. 2 singles. At No. 1 singles, Still battled 6-4, 6-1, while Mittring put forth Brevard's closest match of the afternoon dropping game one 6-4, before nearly taking game two as the sophomore lost 7-5.

 

Brevard will return back to action this coming weekend as they play another weekend Saturday and Sunday series, traveling to Mars Hill on Saturday and hosting Anderson on Sunday.
