HILTON HEAD, S.C. - The Brevard College Men's Tennis team (4-8, 0-5 SAC) continued their winning streak at the Hilton Head Tournament picking up a win against Spring Arbor University on Monday morning. The Tornados battled to a 6-3 victory against the Cougars.

Tim Hengst (Menden, Germany) and Will Christiansen (Crawford, Miss.) continued their dominance, winning 8-3 in doubles against Patrick Doerr and Jacob Byrd at the No. 2 spot. Tom Mittring (Bavaria, Germany) and JR Davis (Hixon, Tenn.) sealed the doubles win for the Tornados with an 8-6 win against Spring Arbor's Nick Romano and Alex Reinbold at the No. 1 position.

After a default win for the Cougars at the No. 6 spot in single play, senior Christoph Plasa (Wegberg, Germany) led off with a commanding 6-1, 6-2 win against Josh Scott at the No. 5 position.

Tom Mittring posted a 6-4, 6-1 at the top position against Nick Romano to give Brevard a 4-2 lead with the final three matches still in progress. Spring Arbor's Jonah Engle defeated Tim Hengst in a tough three-set match. Hengst dominated the first set with a 6-0 win but fell in set two 6-3. The final set went to 10 points as Engle captured the win with a 10-6 score.

Freshman JR Davis sealed the win for the Tornados as he defeated Alex Reinbold at the No. 2 spot. Davis battled in set one to a 7-6 win and a 7-6 tiebreaker score. The freshman kept the momentum rolling into the second set, making quick work of Reinbold with a 6-0 victory.

Brevard will return to the courts tomorrow, March 7, for a match against Lawrence Tech beginning at noon. The men will then have a few days off before wrapping up the tournament on Saturday, March 11, against Belmont Abbey.
