Men's Tennis postponed due to rain

BREVARD, N.C. - The Brevard College got off to an impressive start against Lees-McRae before the match was postponed due to rainy weather on Saturday afternoon.

The men were able to get in their doubles competition, taking two of the three sets. JR Davis (Hixon, Tenn.) and Tom Mittring (Bavaria, Germany) defeated Gabe Muniz and Garrett Lackey 9-8 at the No. 1 spot. The pair won 7-4 in the tie breaker. Chris Plasa (Wegberg, Germany) and Tim Hengst (Menden, Germany) had a solid win against Thomas Deeley and Grant Miller at the No. 3 spot taking the match eight games to five. Cre Still (Henderson, N.C.) and Will Christiansen (Crawford, Miss.) battled Sebastian Zuhr and Cole Douglas-Fields, falling 9-8 and 10-8 in the tiebreaker. The pair was down 5-1 in the tiebreaker and game back to have match-point at 7-6, but fell 10-8 in the end.

The Tornados were unable to play the singles competition due to a rain. Brevard hopes to continue their momentum, with a possible make-up match on Tuesday of next week. For now, their attention will turn towards Catawba, as Brevard travels Salisbury, N.C. to battle the Indians on Sunday, Feb. 19, beginning at 1 p.m.
