BREVARD, N.C. - The Brevard College Tornados Men's Lacrosse team (2-7, 0-4 SAC) limited the nations No. 18 team, the Queens Royals (5-2, 3-0 SAC) to just 14 goals, Wednesday evening, as frigid temperatures caused for spectators and participants to battle the elements in Brevard College's first ever lacrosse game under the newly added lights.

Offensively, the Tornados were led by sophomore's Kyle Hunziker (Gainesville, Fla.) and Jackson McKaig (Gainesville, Fla.) as the duo combined for three of Brevard's four goals on the evening, while senior Ryan Taylor (Mill Bay, British Columbia) collected the remaining score. McKaig would finish the contest tied for the game lead with nine shots, also adding an assist on Hunziker's late fourth quarter score.

For the Royals, Justin Swick finished with a game-high six goals and nine shot attempts, while three other Queens members tallied two goals apiece for the contest. Queens would finish the evening with a 47-22 shot advantage, while collecting an impressive 19-22 faceoff attempts.

Freshman goalie Chris Stallings (Bel Air, Md.) played solid in net for the Tornados against one of the nations top offenses, as the true freshman collected an impressive 14 saves in 44:16 minutes in frame.

Brevard would conclude the evening 15-28 on clear attempts and fall 44-54 in the ground ball advantage, as Royals goalie Anthony Caruso impressed in net, collecting 10 saves, that could have been potential Tornados goals as the netminder dove on several occasions, managing to keep the blue and white attack out of the net.

Queens would open the South Atlantic Conference battle with a 3-0 run, before Taylor managed to fire an impressive shot past Caruso into the back of the Royals net for his 11th score of the year.

Following Taylor's strike, the Royals used a 4-0 run to take a 7-1 lead with just under 10 minutes remaining in the first half. That's when Tornados McKaig powered home his team best 18th score, to cut the Queens lead to seven with just over eight minutes remaining.

The Royals would take a 10-2 lead into the half, as the Tornados defense played more sound in the final two quarters, limiting Queens to just four second half goals, while Hunziker added a score in the third and his second goal of the game with 52 seconds remaining in the fourth, giving the sophomore 14 goals on the year.

Brevard will take a brief break away from conference action as they host future USA South opponent, Huntingdon, Mar. 25 with faceoff scheduled for 8 p.m. from the Brevard Soccer Field.
