Tornados fall to No. 18 ranked Bears

HICKORY, N.C. - Despite a four-goal performance by sophomore Kyle Hunziker (Gainesville, Fla.) the Brevard College Tornados (2-5, 0-2 SAC) were unable to overcome six first quarter goals, dropping a 20-6 conference clash with the No. 18 Lenoir-Rhyne Bears (4-1, 2-0), Tuesday evening in Hickory, N.C.)

Hunziker would lead all Tornados with four goals, while Mathew Dropuljic (Brampton, Ontario) and David Buono (Bethany, Conn.) accounted for the remaining two goals. Dropuljic finished with a team-high eight shot attempts and one assist, while senior Alex Bazzell (Framingham, Mass.) added a solo assist.

Bears midfielder Eric Dickinson finished with a game-high six goals and three assists on 12 shot attempts, while Ben Corrigan and Ryan Bell each finished with two or more scores on the evening. Lenoir-Rhyne would finish the contest with 12 players recording scores, while also controlling 59-27 shot advantage and a 23-30 face-off edge.

Freshman goalie Chris Stallings (Bel Air, Md.) would battle for three quarters in net as the true freshman collected 12 saves, sophomore Peyton Mooney (Vaughan, Ontario) would close out the game in net for the Tornados, as the Vaughan, Ontario native allowed three goals and recorded six saves in 15 minutes of action.

Following a two game conference road trip, the Tornados will return to the Brevard Soccer Field this coming Saturday, Mar. 11 as they welcome the Coker Cobras for the first game of a four game home series beginning at 3 p.m.
