Dropuljic named AstroTurf SAC Men's Lacrosse Player of the Week

ROCK HILL, S.C. - Senior Mathew Dropuljic (Brampton, Ontario) has been honored with being the first AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Men's Lacrosse Player of the Week, for the 2017 season, it was announced on Monday afternoon by league officials.


Dropuljic had an impressive week for the Tornados racking up 16 points in three games, as Brevard finished 2-1 to open up the season. The senior led the Tornados with 11 goals, while also posting five assists. Dropuljic capped off the week with 22 shot attempts, 72.7 percent of which landed on frame.


Dropuljic's most dominating performance, came Saturday when he helped lead the Tornados to a 22-13 win over Emmanuel, as the Brampton, Ontario native scored a career-high seven goals, tying teammate Kyle Hunziker (Gainesville, Fla.) for the most goals in a single game in school history, while also adding two assists for a total of 11 points, a mark that ranks third overall in program history.


"I want to congratulate Matt on this well-deserved achievement," said head men's lacrosse coach Michael Markland. "He has been an integral part in helping us begin the season 2-1 and is well on his way to having a tremendous season."


Dropuljic and the Tornados will return to the field this Saturday, as they host Young Harris College for a non-conference game at 4 p.m.
