BREVARD, N.C. – Tyler Miranda has been named Assistant Coach for the Brevard College Cycling program, announced Head Coach Brad Perley.

"I'm excited to be bringing Tyler onto our coaching staff," said Coach Perley. "We always look for coaches that understand the BC mission and values. Having gone through our program as a student, Tyler certainly appreciates our team culture and I'm excited to see him leave his mark as a coach."

A 2023 Magna Cum Laude graduate from the Honors Program at Brevard College, Miranda competed as a key member of the Brevard College Cycling team over the past four seasons.

"I am super excited to have this assistant coaching opportunity to serve a program that has given me so much and has been a huge part of my life for the last four years," said Miranda.  "We have a great year ahead of us, and with our one-of-a-kind group of students, we can always count on a lot of great times ahead. This is a role that I look forward to transitioning into smoothly because of the outstanding people who surround this program."

Miranda was a major part of the BC Cycling team that placed among the nation's elite at each USA Cycling Collegiate Mountain Bike National Championships during his racing career at Brevard.  As a freshman in 2019, he was a part of a BC squad that took third place in the overall team omnium at the nationals held in Big Bear Lake, California.  As a junior in 2021 and a senior in 2022, Miranda helped lead Brevard to third-place finishes at the national championships held in Durango, Colorado.  The 2020 championship event was not held due to the pandemic.

Miranda was also a key part of the 2019 Brevard College team that placed second overall at the USA Cycling Collegiate Cyclocross National Championships.  He also raced for the Tornados in the 2021 and 2022 cyclocross nationals.  In 2021 at the national championships held in Wheaton, Illinois, Miranda placed 15th in the men's varsity collegiate competition.  Additional cyclocross highlights include a sixth place finish in the men's collegiate A race at the 2019 North Carolina Grand Prix.

Currently completing a Level 3 USA Cycling coaching license, Miranda has considerable experience in the cycling industry as well.  Since 2022, he has worked as a Retail Associate for The Hub in Pisgah Forest, North Carolina and previously served as a Bike Mechanic for the Trek Bicycle Story in Johnson City, Tennessee.

A tremendous student at Brevard College, Miranda was a USA Cycling Academic All-Star, a USA South Conference All-Academic team, and a Dean's List performer throughout his four years.  His academic accolades at BC include Exemplary Citizenship Awards in both Exercise Science and Mathematics, the Faculty Scholarship Award for the Mathematics and Science Division and the highest GPA for the Mathematics Department.
