Tornado Mountain Biking Heads to King University

BREVARD, N.C. – The Brevard College mountain biking team heads to its fourth event of the season, traveling to Bristol, Tenn., to participate in an even hosted by King University that will take place at Sugar Hollow Park on Oct. 7-8.

The collegiate event schedule is as follows:

9 AM—Downhill (1 run) Men A,B,C / Women A,B
11 AM—Short Track Relay (All Teams)
11:20 AM—Short Track Men's C
11:45 AM—Short Track Women's B
12:05 PM—Short Track Men's B
12:30 PM—Short Track Women's A
1:10 PM—Short Track Men's A
2:30 PM—Slalom Qualifying
3:30 PM—Slalom Finals

Sunday, Oct. 8
8:30 AM—Cross Country
8:30 AM—XC Men's Collegiate B
8:32 AM— XC Men's Collegiate C
8:35 AM— XC Women's Collegiate B
10:30 AM— XC Men's Collegiate A
10:32 AM— XC Women's Collegiate A

The Brevard College mountain biking team emerged with four first place individual finishes in its competition with Georgia Tech on Sept. 25 at Big Creek Park in Roswell, Ga.

Among the top finishers for the Tornados were Carson Beckett, who brought home titles in the Men's A Group Cross Country and Men's A Group Short Track events, Walker Shaw (Men's A Group Downhill) and Hannah Arensman (Women's A Group Short Track).

Shaw was also responsible for third place and a fifth place finishes in the Men's A Group Short Track and Cross Country events, respectively. Meanwhile teammate Scott McGill reached the podium with a second place finish, his best this season.

Kyle Grau led the way for the Tornados in the Men's B Group, garnering a third place finish in the Cross Country and a fourth place in the Short Track event.

Leading the way for the women's team was Arensman and Janelle Cole, who crossed the line in third in the Women's A Group Short Track event.

The duo of Arensman and Cole teamed with Beckett and McGill to place second in the Team Relay event.
