Tornados Set to Take on Bridgewater in Doubleheader

BREVARD, N.C.- Brevard will return to the diamond at Gil Coan Field to take on Bridgewater in a doubleheader with the first game set to begin at 11 a.m. on Feb. 18th.

In its last outing, Brevard (1-2) avenged the first loss to William Peace in the doubleheader against the Pacers with a walk-off 5-4 win coming off a base hit from freshman Jadon Wooten. Senior pitcher Tyler Timms came out of the bullpen and threw 6.2 innings, recording five strikeouts while allowing only three earned runs.

Sophomore Joseph Nelms has started out the 2018 campaign red-hot at the plate, recording seven hits on 11 plate appearances (.636 BA) which includes a team-high three doubles and three RBI's. On the mound, Drake Black leads the team with 14 strikeouts, 10 of which came in the 2-0 setback to William Peace in the first game of the doubleheader on Feb. 9th.

Bridgewater enters the weekend ready to play their first games of the season. Last year for the Eagles, sophomore Jacob Talley led all players with a .367 BA with a minimum of 100 plate appearances. Talley finished 2017 tied for third on the team with 21 RBI's.
