BREVARD, N.C.- Despite tallying twelve hits on the afternoon, the Brevard College Tornados (9-28, 2-14 SAC) dropped the opening game of the series with the Anderson Trojans (11-26, 7-12 SAC) by the final of 11-6.

A go-ahead eighth inning home run from Dillon Carpenter proved to be the difference for the Trojans as the longball gave Anderson a 7-5 lead late in the ballgame.

Anderson used a plethora of Tornados errors in the top of the ninth to extend their lead to 11-6, bringing the contest to its final score.

The Tornados offense was led by senior Kyle Morrison (Greensboro, N.C.) and freshman Briah Kahn as they each tallied three hits on the afternoon while Morrison drove home three runs. Seniors Schuyler Martire (Pine Brush, N.Y.) and Brayden Morris (Pulaski, Va.) added in two hits of their own in the contest while Martire notched an RBI.

The Trojans jumped on the board early in the top of the first inning as they used a passed ball and an error on the Tornados along with a single from Jackson Strange to take a 3-0 lead.

An RBI double from Martire and a sacrifice fly from Morrison cut into the Anderson lead and brought the score to 3-2 in the bottom of the first inning.

Following a Trojans run in the top of the third, Morrison responded with an RBI double to left center that drove home Martire to cut the Anderson lead one at 4-3.

Anderson would increase their lead two innings later in the fifth with an RBI single up the middle.

In the bottom of the seventh, Brevard came storming back, adding on two runs to knot the game at five. A single from Morrison and a wild pitch by the Trojans allowed for the two Tornados to cross the plate and even up the contest.

The Tornados finished off their scoring for the contest in the bottom half of the eighth inning as a hard hit groundball from Morrison caused an error from the Trojans and for Morris to scamper home.

Senior Kyle Pittman (Monroe, N.C.) got the start on the mound for the Tornados, going a season-high eight innings while allowing seven runs totalt and five earned. The Monroe, N.C. native allowed 17 hits in the contest while striking out four.

The Tornados will look to bounce back tomorrow as they host Anderson in a doubleheader at 1:00pm on Senior Day.
