Jamie Atkinson is entering her 6th year with the Tornados Athletic Department and currently serves as the Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance and Academic Services and Senior Woman Administrator.  Atkinson's main areas of oversight include compliance with all institutional, conference and NCAA policies, rules and regulations concerning recruitment, financial aid, and eligibility of student-athletes.  She also is the staff advisor for the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) - an NCAA regulated committee of student-athletes that serve as the liaisons for their team, performing community service projects, and have the privilege of being apart of various leadership training opportunities.  During her time as the SAAC advisor, Atkinson says she is most proud of the relationship the group has built with the Special Olympics of Transylvania County.
 
An alumna of Brevard College, Atkinson joined the Tornados staff upon graduating in May of 2013 with a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics and Licensure for Secondary Education. In her first year as a member of the staff, Atkinson served as the Assistant to the Athletic Director.  Atkinson was then named the Director of Internal Operations and Academic Services in June 2014. Under these positions, Atkinson was responsible for overseeing the academic services for student-athletes and the business items within the athletic department. In August 2014, Atkinson was named the Director of Compliance.
 
Atkinson also currently serves on various retention committees across campus, as well as, chairing the Cross Functions Committee, designed to increase institutional effectiveness between all offices on campus.  From January 2018 to May 2018, Atkinson led the Tornados as the Interim Athletics Director. 
 
Prior to joining the Brevard staff, Atkinson was a four-year member of the Tornados' volleyball program. She is tied for first in school NCAA-era history with 183 block assists and is third with 209 total blocks. She appeared in 93 matches, tallying 465 kills and compiling a career .157 hitting percentage with 197 assists, 20 service aces, 263 digs, and 0.68 blocks per set.
 
She is currently pursuing a Master of Nonprofit Management degree from the University of Central Florida.
