Abbie Parde Named Interim Head Volleyball Coach at Brevard College

BREVARD, N.C. - Abbie Parde has been named Interim Head Volleyball Coach at Brevard College, announced Director of Athletics Myranda Nash.  Parde steps into the role with the departure of Anna Grant who was at the helm of the BC Volleyball program for the past seven years.

"Very quickly, Coach Parde has displayed the ability to step into this new role and to guide the Tornado volleyball program this Fall," said Nash.  "We also thank Coach Grant for her outstanding service to Brevard College and her mentorship to so many student-athletes over these past seven years."

Parde becomes Interim Head Volleyball Coach after serving as Assistant Coach under Grant since January.  In addition to her role as a coach this past Spring, she also served as a Sports Information Assistant in BC's Department of Athletics.

"I'm excited to take on this new role within the Brevard Volleyball program," said Parde.  "The players and I are looking forward to competing within the new conference alignment this Fall. I want to thank Coach Grant for all that I have learned from her these past few months, as well as Myranda Nash for giving me this leadership opportunity. Go Tornados!"

Parde began her collegiate coaching career in August of 2019 as an assistant at Nebraska Wesleyan University, an NCAA Division III and American Rivers Conference member located in Lincoln, Nebraska.  In Parde's first year on the staff, NWU went an impressive 20-8 overall and won its last nine regular-season matches in 2019.   In 2021, the Prairie Wolves won their first six matches of the year en route to an 11-win season.

In her role at Nebraska Wesleyan, Parde assisted with practice and game planning to go along with an emphasis on recruiting.  Moreover, she led the NWU student-athletes in team culture-building activities while also executing effective social media content and campaigns.  During her tenure, Parde also served as Head Coach of the Nebraska Wesleyan Junior Varsity Volleyball team.

Since 2016, Parde was the Head Volleyball Coach at the Nebraska ONE Volleyball Club where she helped develop and prepare young athletes for their high school and collegiate careers.  Moreover, Parde was a successful player for several years for Nebraska ONE.  She also worked as a reserve volleyball coach for two seasons at Waverly High School in Waverly, Nebraska.

Parde graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Education with minors in History and Psychology from the University of Nebraska – Lincoln in 2019.  She earned a Master's of Education degree from Nebraska Wesleyan University in 2021, including a capstone project entitled "Building Resilience in Student-Athletes".

BC Volleyball will be seeking its second-consecutive postseason berth after qualifying for the 2021 USA South Conference Volleyball Tournament. Brevard claimed nine victories last season, with eight coming in conference play. 

The Tornados, under the direction of Coach Parde will compete in 27 total matches and seven home competitions in the Fall of 2022.  Brevard kicks off its season on Saturday, September 3 at the Agnes Scott College Labor Day Smash in Decatur, Georgia and opens its USA South Conference schedule at home on Thursday, September 22 vs. Pfeiffer University at the Boshamer Gymnasium.
