BREVARD, N.C. – Abbie Parde has been named Assistant Coach for the Brevard College Volleyball program, announced Head Volleyball Coach Anna Grant.  Parde arrives at Brevard College from Nebraska Wesleyan University where she served as Assistant Volleyball Coach.

"I am beyond thrilled to welcome Abbie to the Tornado family," said Grant. "Her experience as player and coach will add exceptional value to our program and our student athletes' experience. As a fellow Nebraskan, I'm looking forward to the wealth of knowledge and relationships she brings with her."

Parde will begin her duties at Brevard College on January 24.  In addition to coaching volleyball, Parde will also serve as a Sports Information Assistant for the Tornados' Communications Department.

"I am really excited to get started at Brevard College in both the volleyball program and sports information," said Parde. "Coach Grant is going to be great to work with and I'm eager to bring some of the Midwest volleyball passion to the East. Go Tornados!"

Parde began her collegiate coaching career in August of 2019 at Nebraska Wesleyan University, an NCAA Division III and American Rivers Conference member located in Lincoln, Nebraska.  In Parde's first year on the staff, NWU went an impressive 20-8 overall and won its last nine regular-season matches in 2019.   This past year, the Prairie Wolves won their first six matches of the year en route to an 11-win season.

In her role at Nebraska Wesleyan, Parde assisted with practice and game planning to go along with an emphasis on recruiting.  Moreover, she led the NWU student-athletes in team culture building activities while also executing effective social media content and campaigns.  During her tenure, Parde also served as Head Coach of the Nebraska Wesleyan Junior Varsity Volleyball team.

Since 2016, Parde was the Head Volleyball Coach at the Nebraska ONE Volleyball Club where she helped develop and prepare young athletes for their high school and collegiate careers.  Moreover, Parde was a successful player for several years for Nebraska ONE.  She also worked for two seasons as a reserve volleyball coach at Waverly High School in Waverly, Nebraska.

Parde replaces Kia Kaufman who served as Assistant Coach at Brevard College under Coach Grant for the past two seasons.

"I want to thank Kia for her time at Brevard College," said Grant. "Her passion and dedication helped take our program to the next level and to achieve our goals of post-season play. I wish her the best in her next adventure."

Parde graduated with a Bachelor's of Science in Education with minors in History and Psychology from the University of Nebraska – Lincoln in 2019.  She earned her Master's of Education degree from Nebraska Wesleyan University in 2021 which included a capstone project entitled "Building Resilience in Student-Athletes".
