BREVARD, N.C. - The Brevard College volleyball team was honored by the USA South Conference with three postseason awards. Freshman outside hitter Ashley Hoxit and sophomore setter/right-side hitter Kaitlyn Pressley were selected as West Division Second Team honorees, while Abbey Duncan represented BC on the All-Sportsmanship Team.

Hoxit, a native of nearby Balsam Grove, North Carolina, was the primary force on the Tornado offense, registering a team-high 270 kills and 2.73 kills-per-set, while adding 149 digs on the defensive end. Hoxit totaled 12 matches in which she reached double-digit kills, while tallying three double-doubles on the season and reaching a season-high 19 kills on two different occasions (at Piedmont Sept. 22, vs. LaGrange Oct. 23).

Pressley, a local product from Brevard High School, was once again a versatile player for the Tornados, logging 247 kills, 288 assists, and 187 digs – all marks that ranked second on the team. Pressley's season-highs included 20 kills (at LaGrange Oct. 2), 23 assists vs. Wesleyan (Oct. 9), and 15 digs in three separate contests. Pressley racked up nine double-doubles and completed the second and third triple-doubles of her career on October 9 vs. Wesleyan and October 23 vs. LaGrange.

Duncan, a native of Finksburg, Maryland, appeared in 18 matches for the Tornados over the course of the successful 2021 season, totaling 17 service aces and 11 digs while totaling a career-high three service aces on September 18 vs. William Peace.

The Tornados recently concluded their 2021 campaign that culminated with the program's first postseason appearance since 2015, with Brevard making a trip to the 2021 USA South Conference Volleyball Tournament. BC finished with a .500 record in conference play (8-8) and its most single-season wins (nine) since 2017.
