BC Sweeps Agnes Scott in USA South Road Match

DECATUR, Ga. - The Brevard College volleyball team (8-17, 7-7 USAS) swept host Agnes Scott (1-24, 1-13 USAS) in a USA South Conference road match on Tuesday night in Decatur, Georgia. With the win, Brevard moved to .500 in conference play with two matches remaining in the regular season.

BC won the first set 25-18, then edged the host Scotties 26-24 in set two. Up 2-0, the Tornados closed out the match with a 25-20 finish in set three.
 
Sophomore Makenna Parkins and freshman Ashley Hoxit each delivered eight kills to lead the Tornado attack. Freshman Melanie Hoyle and sophomore Kaitlyn Pressley registered seven kills a piece to add to the offensive onslaught.
 
Freshman Logan Priddy dished out a match-high 17 assists to lead the distribution, while Pressley also hit double-digit assists with 10.
 
Sophomore Bailey Lance registered a match-high 24 digs to lead the defense for the Tornados. Pressley continued to display her all-around game with 13 digs to along with a block on the defensive end.
 
The service ace continued to be a weapon for Brevard as the Tornados served six aces as a team. Four of the six aces were provided by Hoxit, matching the collegiate career high for the native of Balsam Grove; North Carolina who also served four aces on. Sept. 4 vs. LaGrange.  
 
A service ace by Parkins proved to be the game-winner in the tight second set, part of a back-to-back sequence by the Marion, North Carolina native who preceded the winner with a kill set uo by a Pressley assist.  Priddy also added an ace in the first set.
 
Brevard will conclude its 2021 regular season with Senior Day on Saturday at the Boshamer Gymnasium as the Tornados will host a conference tri-match vs. Wesleyan (12 p.m.) and Covenant (4 p.m.).
