Tornados Drop Pair of Four-Setters In Montgomery 

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Brevard College volleyball team (6-16, 5-6 USAS) dropped a pair of USA South Conference matches, each in four sets, at a tri-match held Saturday in Montgomery, Alabama.

The Tornados dropped their first match of the day, 3-1 (11-25, 22-25, 25-23, 22-25) to Berea in a neutral site competition. BC later fell to host Huntingdon 3-1 (25-18, 16-25, 12-25, 22-25).

In the matchup against Berea, the Tornados fell behind two sets to zero. In a must-win situation in set three, Brevard delivered with a clutch 25-23 performance.  Berea, however, answered with a 25-22 win in set four to finish off the match.

Sophomore Kaitlyn Pressley led the Tornados in the early match with a double-double of 14 assists and 11 kills.  Setter Logan Priddy delivered a team-high 15 assists to set up Pressley along with hitters Makenna Parkins (seven kills), Melanie Hoyle (six kills), and Ashley Hoxit (five kills). Defensively, Bailey Lance led Brevard with 27 digs.

Conversely, Brevard jumped out to an early led in the second contest, defeating host Huntingdon 25-18 in set number one. The Hawks protected their home court however winning the next three consecutive sets to take the four-set victory.  

Hoxit (11 kills) and Parkins (10 kills) each recorded double-digit kills in the defeat. Priddy proved to be the primary facilitator with 17 assists, while Lance led the team once again with 16 digs.

Pressley added a versatile performer of nine digs, six assists, and six kills to the battle versus the Hawks.

Brevard and Huntingdon each tallied eight aces in the contest.  Lance delivered on three aces to lead the Tornado serving attack.  Pressley served two aces, while Priddy, Hoxit, and Abbey Duncan each recorded service winners as well. 

BC returns to conference play with another USA South Conference tri-match on Saturday, October 23 in Maryville, Tennessee.  The Tornados will play LaGrange and host Maryville in the affair.
