Tornados Drop Road Match at Pfeiffer
MISENHEIMER, N.C. - The Brevard College volleyball team (1-4) dropped a non-conference road match, 3-0 (25-20, 25-19, 25-16) to host Pfeiffer (3-1) on Tuesday night in Misenheimer, North Carolina.
 
Sophomore Kaitlyn Pressley led the Tornados with a team-high 11 kills to go along with nine assists. The Brevard, North Carolina native also registered a team-high three service aces.  Freshman Ashley Hoxit logged five kills with junior Sarah Hutchens adding three kills.
 
Freshman setter Logan Priddy led Brevard with 14 assists plus five digs.  
 
On the defensive end, sophomore Bailey Lance, a native of Mills River, North Carolina, led the Tornados with 11 digs.  Pressley and Hutchens also combined for a key block defensively at the net.
 
BC recorded seven service aces in the three-set match with Pressley (3), Lance (2), Caelyn Murphy and Abbey Duncan all serving up aces.
 
Pfeiffer was led by Madison Honeycutt (13 kills) offensively with setters Kylee Mayberry and Kira Suttles each dishing out 14 assists.
 
The Falcons won the first set 25-20, then seized a 2-0 lead in sets with a 25-19 victory in set two. Pfeiffer then put away the match with its most impressive set of the night, a 25-16 performance in set three.
 
The two schools will meet again on Saturday, September 18 as part of the USA South Conference Crossover Tournament to be held at the Boshamer Gymnasium on the Brevard College campus.
 
Next up for the Tornados is a non-conference, midweek home match on Wednesday, September 8 vs. Bob Jones University at 7 p.m. at the Boshamer Gymnasium.
