  • Abbie Parde Named Interim Head Volleyball Coach at Brevard College

    Abbie Parde has been named Interim Head Volleyball Coach at Brevard College, announced Director of Athletics Myranda Nash.  Parde steps into the role with the departure of Anna Grant who was at the helm of the BC Volleyball program for the past seven years. “Very quickly, Coach Parde has displayed the ability to step into this new role and to guide the Tornado volleyball program this Fall,” said Nash.  “We also thank Coach Grant for her outstanding service to Brevard College and her mentorship to so many student-athletes over these past seven years.”
  • Brevard College Places Record 167 Student-Athletes on USA South Academic All-Conference List

    Brevard College placed a school-record 167 student-athletes on the USA South Academic All-Conference Team for the 2021-22 academic year. BC’s 167 academic all-conference selections shatters the previous record of 129 set in 2020-21. Brevard is among the top-five schools in the USA South in total number of honorees, joining Piedmont University (215 honorees), Huntingdon College (199 honorees), Southern Virginia University (197 honorees), and Methodist University (158 honorees) in the top-five of USA South Conference institutions.

    The Brevard College Department of Athletics hosted the 2021-22 BESPYs, the college’s annual Athletic Awards ceremony on Monday, April 25 at the Boshamer Gymnasium. It marked the first in-person BESPYs awards banquet since the Spring of 2019.

    The Brevard College volleyball team (7-17, 6-7 USAS) split two matches at a USA South Conference tri-match held Saturday in Maryville, Tennessee. In neutral site action, the Tornados defeated LaGrange in a five-set thriller (25-22, 22-25, 25-22, 15-25, 15-13) before dropping a match to host Maryville 3-0 (25-23, 25-7, 25-15) in straight sets.

    The Brevard College volleyball team (6-16, 5-6 USAS) dropped a pair of USA South Conference matches, each in four sets, at a tri-match held Saturday in Montgomery, Alabama.
  • Brevard Battles for Key Conference Win over Piedmont, 3-1

    The Brevard College volleyball team (6-14, 5-4 USAS) earned a hard-fought USA South Conference win, 3-1, over Piedmont University (3-14, 3-6 USAS) on Tuesday evening at the Boshamer Gymnasium. Kaitlyn Pressley, a versatile sophomore from Brevard, turned in a clutch performance for the Tornados on the offensive end, totaling a game-high 19 kills while adding nine assists. Freshman outside hitter Ashley Hoxit added nine kills with Makenna Parkins totaling seven kills to help pace the Tornado offense. Logan Priddy, a freshman setter from Greensboro, North Carolina, dished out a game-high 25 assists while adding 12 digs on the defensive end for a double-double – the second of her collegiate career. Bailey Lance, a defensive specialist from nearby Mills River, North Carolina, totaled 26 digs to go along with a career-high seven service aces for Brevard.
  • Tornados Win in Four Sets over Wesleyan, Split Tri-Match at Covenant

    The Brevard College volleyball team (5-14, 4-4 USAS) split a pair of matches in a USA South Conference tri-match hosted by Covenant on Saturday in Lookout Mountain, Georgia. The Tornados defeated Wesleyan (1-12, 0-6 USAS,) 3-1, (25-23, 25-17, 20-25, 25-18) in a neutral site affair to cap off the tri-match.  In the first match of the day for the Tornados, host Covenant (12-6, 6-1 USAS) topped BC, 3-0, (25-8, 25-17, 25-10).
  • Tornados Cruise in 3-0 Sweep over Scotties

    The Brevard College volleyball team (4-13, 3-3 USAS) picked up a USA South Conference victory on Wednesday evening, sweeping Agnes Scott College (1-14, 1-5 USAS), 3-0, at the Boshamer Gymnasium. The Tornados took the first set, 25-21, before dominating set number two 25-14. BC closed out the match with a 25-16 set three victory, completing the sweep over the Scotties.
  • BC Drops Non-Conference Match at Bob Jones

    The Brevard College volleyball team (3-13) fell in straight sets to host Bob Jones University in a non-conference match up on Tuesday night in Greenville, South Carolina. The Tornados fell is set one 25-23, before dropping set two 25-15 to fall behind 2-0. The Bruins won the match with a 25-17 victory in set number three.

  • Noah Reisig Named Assistant Athletic Trainer at Brevard College

    Noah Reisig has been named Assistant Athletic Trainer at Brevard College, announced Head Athletic Trainer Liz Kelley. Reisig, who begins his duties at BC immediately, will work specifically with the sports of Men’s Lacrosse, Men’s Soccer, Men’s and Women’s Cross Country/Track & Field, and Volleyball.

    The start times have been adjusted for Brevard College volleyball's USA South Conference tri-match against Berea College and Huntingdon College on Saturday at the Boshamer Gymnasium.  The Tornados are slated to begin play at 10 a.m. as Brevard takes on Huntingdon. The Hawks and Berea Mountaineers will face off at 12 p.m. before Brevard finishes the tri-match against Berea at 2 p.m.
  • Brevard Takes Conference Opener 3-1 Over Piedmont

    Freshman outside hitter Ashley Hoxit registered a career-high 19 kills and 15 digs for a double-double, while sophomore outside hitter Kaitlyn Pressley secured a near-triple-double effort of nine kills, 21 assists, and 15 digs as the Brevard College volleyball team (2-9, 1-0 USAS) kicked off USA South Conference play with a convincing 3-1 victory over Piedmont University (0-9, 0-1 USAS) on Wednesday evening.

    Day two of the USA South Conference Crossover Volleyball Tournament concluded Saturday with host Brevard (1-8) dropping its two matches vs. visiting Pfeiffer and William Peace.  In total Brevard College hosted ten matches over the two days pitting conference members from the East and West Divisions of the USA South.

    Freshman middle blocker Melanie Hoyle registered a game, team, and career-high 12 kills to lead the Brevard College volleyball (1-6) offense in the day one finale of BC’s USA South Crossover Tournament held at the Boshamer Gymnasium. Visiting Greensboro College (7-4) earned a 3-0 victory over the Tornados to cap off the first day of the 10-match, two-day crossover tournament that features seven institutions – Brevard, Covenant College, Greensboro, Maryville College, Meredith College, Pfeiffer University, and William Peace University.

    The Brevard College volleyball team (1-4) dropped a non-conference road match, 3-0 (25-20, 25-19, 25-16) to host Pfeiffer (3-1) on Tuesday night in Misenheimer, North Carolina. Sophomore Kaitlyn Pressley led the Tornados with a team-high 11 kills to go along with nine assists. The Brevard, North Carolina native also registered a team-high three service aces.  Freshman Ashley Hoxit logged five kills with junior Sarah Hutchens adding three kills.
  • Tornados Pick Up First Win on Final Day of Emory Classic

    The Brevard College volleyball team (1-3) picked up its first win of the Fall 2021 season on Saturday in a doubleheader split on the final day of the Emory Classic in Atlanta, hosted by Emory University. The Tornados rallied back from an early deficit to defeat fellow USA South Conference opponent LaGrange College (0-2), 3-2, before a 3-0 defeat to Willamette University (3-2).

    The Brevard College volleyball team (0-2) kicked action off at the Emory Classic, hosted by nationally-ranked #4 Emory University, in Atlanta on Friday. The Tornados fell in straight sets to Emory (2-0) in the non-conference contest.
