  • Four Tornados Earn ITA Scholar-Athlete Honors, BC Women’s Tennis Selected as an All-Academic Team

    Four Brevard College women’s tennis student-athletes – recent graduates Brooke Garland and Hamrick Perry and rising juniors Hannah Hersh and Sophie Trantham – were selected as Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Scholar-Athletes. Furthermore, the 2022-23 BC women’s tennis team earned ITA All-Academic Team plaudits. Garland earned her fourth-career Scholar-Athlete selection from the ITA, and marks the second-straight honors for Hersh and Trantham. Perry garnered her first-career award from the ITA. BC earned the team award for the eighth time in the program’s NCAA-era history.

    Brevard College placed 154 student-athletes on the USA South Academic All-Conference Team for the 2022-23 academic year.
  • Brooke Garland Awarded ITA Atlantic Region Arthur Ashe Leadership & Sportsmanship Award

    Brevard College women’s tennis alumna Brooke Garland ’23 has been awarded the Arthur Ashe Leadership & Sportsmanship Award from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) for the Atlantic Region. Garland, a recent Summa Cum Laude graduate of BC, was one of just three NCAA DIII women’s tennis players selected for the award in the country, joining Pallavi Goculdas of Case Western Reserve (Central Region) and Jamie Marcus of Pomona Pitzer (West Region). Garland will now advance to the National Arthur Ashe Leadership & Sportsmanship Award, announced on June 7.
  • Program-Best Three Tornados from BC Women’s Tennis Named Academic All-District

    A program-best three student-athletes from the Brevard College women’s tennis team have been named 2022-23 Academic All-District performers, selected by College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA). Brevard College tennis student-athletes Brooke Garland, Hannah Hersh and Sophie Trantham were all named to the Academic All-District team for the 2022-23 season. All three Tornado women’s tennis student-athletes now advance to the ballot for the 2022-23 CSC Academic All-America team.
  • Four-Consecutive Singles Wins Push Brevard Past Pfeiffer, 5-2; Tornados Advance to Semifinals of USA South Tournament

    The Brevard College women’s tennis team (14-5) advanced to the semifinals of the 2023 USA South Conference Tournament after a 5-2 First Round win over Pfeiffer University (14-6) on Tuesday afternoon at the McCoy Tennis Complex. The victory marks the second-consecutive season that the Tornados have earned a home playoff victory, as Brevard now turns its attention to a Thursday matchup in Rocky Mount, North Carolina against to-seeded NC Wesleyan University, with first serve scheduled for 2 p.m.
  • BC Women’s Tennis Wraps Up Regular Season; Set for First Round Home Postseason Match

    The Brevard College women’s tennis team (13-5, 6-3 USA South) wrapped up its 2022-23 regular season with a 7-2 defeat to host Southern Virginia (11-3, 7-1 USAS) on Saturday afternoon in Charlottesville, Virginia.

    The Brevard College women’s tennis team (12-4, 5-2 USA South) took down Salem College (3-11, 1-6 USAS) in 9-0 fashion to sweep a USA South Conference matchup in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

    The Brevard College women’s tennis team (12-4, 5-2 USAS) fell 9-0 to visiting Methodist (10-4, 7-0 USAS) on Saturday afternoon in the regular-season home finale at the McCoy Tennis Complex.

    The Brevard College women’s tennis team (12-3, 5-1 USA South) won its fifth-consecutive match in a row with a 9-0 sweep over Greensboro College (0-9, 0-7 USAS) on Wednesday afternoon at the McCoy Tennis Complex.
  • Tornados Win Fourth Straight with Win at Mary Baldwin

    The Brevard College women’s tennis team (11-3, 4-1 USAS) defeated Mary Baldwin (3-14, 2-4 USAS) 5-2 on Friday afternoon in Staunton, Virginia.  The win marked the straight victory for the Tornados.  Dating back to March 4, Brevard has won nine of its last ten matches.
  • Clutch Singles Play Lifts Tornados Past Falcons; Brevard Winners of Eight of Last Nine Matches

    The Brevard College women’s tennis team (10-3, 3-1 USA South) picked up a pivotal 5-4 victory on the road over Pfeiffer University (11-2, 2-2 USAS) on Tuesday afternoon in Misenheimer, North Carolina.  The victory gives the Tornados wins in eight of their last nine matches as Brevard improved to 3-1 in conference action.

    The Brevard College women’s tennis team (9-3, 2-1 USAS) earned an 8-1 victory over Meredith (0-6, 0-3 USAS) in a USA South Conference matchup played Saturday in extremely windy conditions at the McCoy Tennis Complex.
  • Hersh and Kogoy Win Doubles Team of the Week for Second Time

    Senior Alli Kogoy and sophomore Hannah Hersh were selected as the USA South Conference Women’s Tennis Doubles Team of the Week for the second time this season. The Tornado duo earned an 8-5 win over opposition from USA South foe William Peace in the only contest last week for the pair. Brevard's number one team of Kogoy and Hersh topped WPU's Hayley McNair and Camryn Straughn.
  • BC Dominates William Peace 8-1 for USA South Win

    The Brevard College women’s tennis team (8-3, 1-1 USA South) earned a dominant 8-1 road victory over USA South Conference foe William Peace University (0-4, 0-2 USAS) on Saturday afternoon at Lions Park in Cary, North Carolina. The win continues an impressive stretch for the Tornados who conclude their competition in March with a 6-1 record for the month.

    The Brevard College women’s tennis team (7-3, 0-1 USA South) saw its five-match win streak come to a close, as the Tornados fell 9-0 to formidable NC Wesleyan University (2-5, 2-0 USAS) on Sunday afternoon at the McCoy Tennis Complex.
  • Women’s Tennis Dominates With Four Convincing Wins in Hilton Head

    The Brevard College women’s tennis team (7-2) rolled through its four matches at the PTR Spring Tennis Fest from Monday, March 6 to Saturday, March 11 in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.  BC dominated Catholic University 8-1 before a pair of 7-2 victories over NCAA DII’s Clarion University and DIII Penn State-Behrend. The Tornados were slated to compete against Lancaster Bible College on Friday, March 10, but the contest was canceled due to inclement weather. Brevard was able to add Cornell College to the slate in a Saturday, March 11 morning contest, as the Tornados wrapped up the trip with a 6-3 triumph. 
  • Hersh Earns Second Player of the Week Award of Season

    Sophomore Hannah Hersh was honored by the USA South Conference following a 4-0 trip for the Tornados to Hilton Head Island. South Carolina, as the Estero, Florida native was named USA South Women’s Tennis Player of the Week for the second time this season. Hersh, the Tornados’ top-flight singles student-athlete and also one-half of BC’s number-one doubles unit alongside senior Alli Kogoy, earned her second Player of the Week honor of 2023 following a dominant week for Brevard as a whole.
  • Tornados Dominate Singles Play to Take Win over Scots

    The Brevard College women's tennis team (3-2) dominated singles competition to take a 7-2 win over host Maryville (0-5) on Saturday afternoon in Maryville, Tennessee. After trailing 2-1 following doubles competition, the Tornados swept the Scots in singles play to earn the comeback victory.  In singles, Brevard did not lose a set as five players recorded straight-set victories with a sixth victory coming via forfeit.   BC's number one singles player Hannah Hersh took the first set 6-4 over MC's Katelyn Cook. Hersh and Cook then battled in a competitive second set with the Tornado sophomore taking a clutch 7-5 second set victory.  
  • Hannah Hersh Earns Player of the Week Nod; Tandem of Hersh and Kogoy Awarded Doubles Team of the Week

    Brevard College women’s tennis was honored by the USA South Conference following its season-opening 9-0 sweep of Johnson & Wales University (NC). Sophomore Hannah Hersh was selected as the conference’s Player of the Week, while BC no. 1 doubles pairing of Hersh and senior Alli Kogoy was honored as Doubles Team of the Week.
  • BC Women’s Tennis Opens Spring Season with Sweep of JWU

    The Brevard College women’s tennis team (1-0) swept non-conference foe Johnson & Wales (0-1) 9-0 on a windy Friday afternoon at the McCoy Tennis Complex. The Tornados ran through doubles play with three decisive match wins, outscoring the Wildcats 24-8.  BC then won every singles match, dropping just one set.  The number one through four positions were especially dominant for the Tornados who won 48 of the 54 games played in the top-four singles matches. 
  • BC Women’s Tennis Placed Fifth in Conference Preseason Poll

    Fresh off the program’s first postseason appearance and victory since 2011-12, the Brevard College women’s tennis team was selected to finish fifth in the USA South Conference preseason coaches poll. N.C. Wesleyan was placed atop the rankings thanks to receiving 79 total points and eight of the possible ten first-place votes. The Battling Bishops will look to capture their third regular season and tournament titles in the past four seasons. Methodist grabbed 73 total points and the remaining two first-place votes to place second in this season's preseason coaches poll while Southern Virginia rounded out the top three with 66 points.
  • Tornados Celebrate National Girls and Women in Sports Day

    The Brevard College Department of Athletics proudly celebrates this year’s National Girls and Women in Sports Day (NGWSD).  The Tornados will host a celebration at the next home athletics event – the Women’s Basketball game vs. N.C. Wesleyan on Friday, February 3 with tipoff set for 6 p.m. ET at the Boshamer Gymnasium.

    The Brevard College women's tennis team (0-1) fell to a familiar foe in its team opener for the 2022-23 season, dropping a 6-3 decision to former USA South adversary Covenant College (2-0) on Wednesday in Lookout Mountain, Georgia.

    The Brevard College women’s tennis team opened its 2022-23 season with an individual tournament at the Piedmont Invitational hosted by Piedmont University in Demorest, Georgia.
