Women’s Soccer Ends Regular Season with 2-1 Victory on Senior Day

BREVARD, N.C. – The Brevard College women's soccer team (10-5-4, 3-3-3 USA South) took down William Peace University (11-5, 5-4 USAS) 2-1 on Saturday evening at Ives-Lemel Family Field.

The win marked the 10th victory for the Tornados, who clinched the seven-seed in the 2022 USA South Conference Women's Soccer Tournament. Brevard will travel to Buena Vista, Virginia to take on Southern Virginia University on Tuesday, November 1.

Taylor Richardson, a junior from Seminole, Florida, scored a pair of second-half goals to pace the Tornados. Tae Brown, a junior forward from Marion, North Carolina, assisted on both of Richardson's goals, while Emma White also logged an assist.

Mackenzie Lozano (5-2-2) earned the win after three saves on the day. Richardson and Abby Mayer each totaled three shot attempts, with Brown, White, and Abbie Worsencroft each totaling two apiece. The Tornados outshot the Pacers 14-9 while totaling six corner kicks to WPU's 4.

The first half was tightly contested with BC slightly outshooting the Pacers 4-3. The Tornados came to life in the second half, logging 10 shots to WPU's six.

The Tornados got on the board first in the 63rd minute when Richardson slotted home a through ball from Brown that gave BC the early lead, 1-0.

Brevard was able to double its lead just four minutes later, as a free kick from White landed at the feet of Brow, who played it to Richardson on a through ball that was struck past the WPU GK as the Tornados extended their lead, 2-0.

WPU clawed back with a goal in the 77th minute as a BC defensive mistake proved costly, but Lozano and the Tornado defense held firm to deliver the regular season finale W.
