Women’s Soccer Shuts Out Pfeiffer for 2-0 Conference Win

MISENHEIMER, N.C. - The Brevard College women's soccer team (9-5-4, 2-3-3 USA South) shut out Pfeiffer University (2-11-1, 1-7-0 USAS), 2-0, on Tuesday afternoon in Misenheimer, North Carolina. 

Junior forward Grace Black scored BC's second goal of the day in the second half while assisting on its first goal to lead the Tornado offense. Senior midfielder Jessica Tenjhay scored her second goal of the season in the 15th minute off Black's assist, while graduate defender Khadijah Shakirof assisted on Black's goal in the 70th minute of action. 

Freshman goalkeeper Nicole Arroyo (5-3-2) earned her fifth win and sixth shutout of the season, making three saves to keep the Falcons out of the goal. 

Brevard led the shot totals 11-6 in the match, with Black, Emma Gooch, and Taylor Richardson all taking two shots apiece. Saves were equal between the two sides at three each, while the Tornados took three corner kicks to Pfeiffer's one. BC applied the pressure in the second half, outshooting the Falcons 8-4 en route to the two-goal victory. 

The Tornados close out the regular season with a 5 p.m. kickoff on Saturday vs. William Peace University at Ives-Lemel Family Field for Senior Day. 

Brevard clinched its third-consecutive postseason berth with the victory, and fourth in the last five seasons, as the Tornados will compete in the 2022 USA South Conference Women's Soccer Tournament. The eight-team tournament is scheduled to begin on Tuesday, November 1. Brevard currently sits in seventh place in the standings with one game left to play.
