Monarchs Score Late to Defeat Tornados

BREVARD, N.C. - The Brevard College women's soccer team (7-4-4, 0-2-3 USA South) fell 2-0 to USA South Conference leader Methodist (10-2-1, 6-0-0 USAS) on a sunny Saturday afternoon at Ives-Lemel Family Field.

Freshman goalkeeper Mackenzie Lozano, a freshman from St. Petersburg, Florida, was spectacular on several plays en route to a career-high 10 saves.

Lozano and the BC defense shut out the potent Monarchs for the entire first half and for 66 minutes in total until the deadlock was broken on a goal by Methodist's Tatiana Lourenco-Shiber.

Sixteen minutes later, Kelsey Burge of Methodist scored an insurance goal as the Monarchs went on to the 2-0 victory.
