RALEIGH, N.C. – The Brevard College women's soccer team (6-3-1, 0-1-1 USA South) drew 0-0 at Meredith College (1-4-1, 0-1-1 USAS) on Thursday afternoon in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Brevard led the contest in overall shot attempts 13-to-9 over Meredith and freshman goalkeeper Nicole Arroyo (2-2-1) stopped four shot attempts in the 90-minute shutout performance.

Abby Mayer led all Tornados with four shots – including two on-goal – while Maddy Edwards and Mikayla Zvekan each took two shot attempts for Brevard. Grace Black, Chantel Carmenzind, Alyssa Hetherington, Khadijah Shakirof, and Emma White all registered shots in the match.

Meredith's Kasey Wilkins stopped seven BC shots en route to a shutout of her own, while Meredith Warrick and Lauren Quarantello took three shot attempts apiece.

Black took Brevard's first shot of the match in the third minute before Shakirof logged BC's first shot-on-goal in the ninth minute of action. Mayer took two shots on consecutive possessions for Brevard while Zvekan also took a shot on goal. Arroyo made three saves in the first half as the Tornados and Avenging Angels remained deadlocked, 0-0.

Hetherington took a chance at goal early in the second half, followed by attempts from Carmenzind, Edwards (two shots), and Zvekan. Graduate defender White took a shot on a free kick in the 79th minute, but the scoring opportunity was thwarted by Wilkins.

BC's leading goal-scorer Mayer forced a save in the 81st minute and had a shot go just wide right in the 88th minute as the Tornados and Avenging Angels traded attempts seeking the winner, however, the contest would remain scoreless through its entirety.

Brevard returns home next week with consecutive USA South Conference matches at Ives-Lemel Family Field. The Tornados first face Greensboro College on Tuesday, October 4 at 6 p.m. before facing Southern Virginia University under the lights at 7 p.m. on Friday, October 7 as part of Homecoming 2022 festivities at Brevard College.
