BEREA, Ky. – For the second consecutive season the Brevard College women's soccer team (9-6-3, 5-2-1 USAS) is postseason bound in the USA South, as the Tornados clinched a berth into the 2021 USA South Conference Women's Soccer Tournament with a 4-1 triumph over Berea College (5-13-0, 2-6-0 USAS) on Saturday afternoon.

The Tornados, who will host a postseason contest for the second season in a row, will match up against five-seed Huntingdon College on Tuesday, October 26 at 4 p.m. at Ives-Lemel Family Field.

Taylor Richardson, a sophomore from Seminole, Florida, scored a goal and dished out an assist to lead the Tornado offense in the contest. Olivia Grisewood scored her first-career goal on Sallie Riggan's sixth assist of the season, while Tae Brown and Aliyah Vaughan also scored goals. Graduate goalkeeper Rebeccah Rojas, who has set most major goalkeeping records over the course of her five-year playing career at Brevard, logged the first assist of her career on Richardson's second-half goal. Rojas (8-5-3) made a save while shutting out the Mountaineers through 75:47 minutes of action.

Brevard dominated the shot chart in the contest, outshooting the Mountaineers 21-7 while logging 10 shots-on-goal.

Brevard logged four shot attempts to Berea's two before Grisewood found the back of the net in the 33rd minute on Riggan's dish to give the Tornados a 1-0 lead. Grisewood and Richardson both forced saves on their next shot attempts before Brown scored for the fourth time this season on a Richardson assist to give Brevard a 2-0 lead at halftime.

The Tornados struck quick early in the second half, as Richardson scored on Rojas' assist in the 51st minute that was immediately followed by a Vaughan goal in the 52nd minute, as Brevard doubled its lead, 4-0.

Following a goalkeeper change for the Tornados, Berea scored their lone goal of the contest in the 80th minute. Brevard then fired three consecutive shots – one off the post and two that were saved – as time expired with the Tornados wrapping up their second-straight postseason berth.
