BREVARD, N.C. - The Brevard College women's soccer team (5-5-2) used a season-high four goals to surge past Warren Wilson College (0-8), 4-0, on a rain-soaked Thursday evening at Ives-Lemel Family Field.

Abbie Worsencroft scored her first two goals of the 2021 season, tallying the first brace of her collegiate career. Senior midfielder Sallie Riggan dished out a pair of assists, while sophomore forward Taylor Richardson logged a goal and an assist. Fellow sophomore Grace Black dished out her first career assist on Richardson's goal, while freshman midfielder Maddie Edwards scored her first collegiate goal on Richardson's assist.

Graduate goalkeeper Rebeccah Rojas saved a pair of shots en route to her fifth shutout of the season. Sophomore keeper Cam De Silva combined for the shutout, seeing the last 18 minutes of action between the sticks for the Tornados.

Warren Wilson's Pamela Moore registered 10 saves to help lead the Owls.

Brevard was able to dominate the contest wire-to-wire, firing off 25 shots to Warren Wilson's three. BC also dominated possession, winning all 14 corner kicks in the match.

Following nine shots to open the contest, BC finally broke through when Worsencroft headed home a Riggan corner kick to put the Tornados up 1-0. The defender from West Union, South Carolina would double Brevard's lead, collecting a loose ball in the box and firing a left-footed shot into the left corner just before halftime in the 44th minute. BC managed to take a 2-0 advantage into the intermission.

Brevard would fire four more shots before a 53rd-minute strike from Richardson pushed BC's lead to a commanding 3-0 margin. Riggan started a breakaway, finding a streaking Black on the right side of the field. Black then fed Richardson in the middle of the field before the Seminole, Florida native powered a shot through the hands of the Warren Wilson keeper.

Just nine minutes later, Edwards found the back of the net for the first time in her Tornado career, taking a Richardson pass and ripping a left-footed shot into the right side of the goal to put BC in a comfortable position, 4-0.

The Tornados return to play this Saturday for a USA South Conference showdown in Lookout Mountain, Georgia against Covenant College beginning at 5 p.m.
