Scoreless Draw for Tornados in Winston-Salem as BC Defense Rides Shutout Streak

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Brevard College women's soccer team (1-3-2) played to a scoreless 0-0 draw vs. NC Wesleyan (2-4-1) in a neutral-site, non-conference affair on Saturday afternoon at Truist Sports Park in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

BC goalkeeper Rebeccah Rojas and the Tornado defense earned their second consecutive shutout with their second scoreless draw in as many games.  Brevard and William Peace also played to a scoreless tie in rainy conditions last Wednesday at Ives-Lemel Family Field.  The Tornados extended their shutout streak to 248 minutes, as BC has not allowed a goal since the first half vs. Berry College on September 11.

Brevard's Rojas, a graduate student from Murrieta, California, recorded three saves in the shutout performance.  NC Wesleyan used two goalkeepers in the contest as Alicia Jacobs and Jordan Fransee combined for the shoutout and a total of six saves.

In front of Rojas in Saturday's contest was a back-four defensively of sophomore Channing Barker, senior Samantha Foster, senior Emma White, and sophomore Abbie Worsencroft.

The Tornados completely blanked the Battling Bishops in the first half, not allowing a single shot or a corner kick.  The second half saw just three shots by NCWC for a total of just three shots allowed in the contest.  NC Wesleyan did not attempt a corner kick either in the second half.

Brevard registered a total of eight shots with six shots-on-goal.  Sophomore forward Tae Brown led the Tornado offense with three shots, two of which were on goal.  Maddy Edwards, Taylor Richardson, White, and Foster each recorded a shot as well.

The Brevard women's soccer team returns to action on Wednesday, September 22 at 7 p.m. vs. Bob Jones at Ives-Lemel Family Field before beginning USA South Conference competition on Saturday, Sept. 25 at Huntingdon.
